The 15th generation of the mobile phones from Apple is now available in Slovakia. Several of the local authorized retailers are advertising the new iPhone 13 is now in stock.
The iPhone 13 was released on Sep 14th featuring four variants: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Max. The line-up comes with the ARM-based A15 chip and its focus is mostly on improving the camera user experience.
Smartphone users rely more and more on their devices to take photos and shoot videos, not only due to their portability and the fact we always have them with us, but also how easily these creations can be edited on-the-fly and quickly shared online. Although the sensor and lenses included on the current smartphones have limitations compared with the ones used by dedicated cameras, the results the new iPhone (and other models from other brands) is able to produce are astonishing.
Two features Apple heavily advertised are the ability to record video in ProRes format at 4k 30 fps and the cinematic mode. The use of ProRes is limited to the Pro and Pro Max variants of the iPhone 13. Cinematic mode, the ability to change focus between objects or people in frame while recording video just like it’s done in film productions, is available to all iPhone 13 models. Cinematic mode not only allows automatically changing the focus while recording, but also afterwards.
Even though this new model seems to many reviewers like a minor update compared to the very well received iPhone 12, for the users who use their mobile phones as their main camera devices this new line-up is not only major upgrade, but even to a certain extent, game changing.
The iPhone 13 also includes improved battery life and a new OLED display. In the case of the Pro and Pro Max models, the display also has a variable 120 Hz refresh rate and up-to 1000 nits.
